Dr Emma Gannan

Emma has a particular interest in oncoplastic breast surgery and manages all surgical aspects of benign and malignant breast disease. She performs the full range of oncoplastic breast surgery, including implant reconstruction. Emma practices multi-disciplinary cancer care attending the Ballarat Breast Multi-Disciplinary Meetings for the Grampians Integrated Cancer Service.
Emma grew up in Melbourne and completed a degree in Biomedical Science at The University of Melbourne with Honours in Neuroscience before heading to Western Australia to complete Medical School at The University of Notre Dame. Emma then returned to Victoria and trained in General Surgery at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. She subsequently underwent post-fellowship training with Breast Surgeons of Australia & New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ) at The University Hospital Geelong and The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital.
Emma has completed a Masters of Surgery in Breast Surgery at The University of Sydney and is a full member of BreastSurgANZ and a General Surgery Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Emma operates at St John of God Hospital Ballarat, The Ballarat Day Procedure Centre and The Epworth Hospital Geelong. She is also a lecturer for the medical students at The University of Melbourne, Ballarat Campus. Emma is a mentor to medical students at The University of Melbourne, Rural Clinical School. Emma is involved in medical research examining breast cancer outcomes. Emma regularly attends local and international Breast Surgery conferences to ensure best practice.
Emma is dedicated to working with her patients and their loved ones to ensure sensitive and individualised patient care.
